TAM President’s Message

OHM NAHMO VENKATASAYA

Yendharo Mahanu Bavulu Mee Andhariki Na Vandanamulu.

Namaskaramu dear TAM family and All Teluguvara in Malaysia.

Firstly, I would like to wish all our members a Happy 64th Independence Day. We are fortunate enough to maintain our Telugu Culture and Language in the country without any hindrance.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the trust and confidence placed in me to lead our esteemed Telugu Association of Malaysia. I am very honoured and promise that me and my team will do the very best to uphold the Mission and vision of TAM at all times.

TAM has always played a key role in uniting our Telugu Community. The community has evolved progressively from an agriculture and labour dependent to self-employed and professional community today. Although we had progressed forward economically, we are still not on par with other communities in Malaysia.

TAM is a respected NGO established to protect and propagate Telugu language and culture in Malaysia. Today, TAM is playing a key role in developing young graduates through its educational wing under TAM Foundation. It gives out financial assistance to all needy students to accomplish their dreams. We were fortunate enough to get some financial grant from the Malaysian government previously. With the support and kind contribution of many good souls, we are able to carry on doing the financial assistance for the deserving students and families.

Since the beginning of year 2020, we all are facing lots of uncertainties due to the ongoing pandemic but we are proud to say that our activities in regards to Language, culture and religious has been going on nonstop. Our Telugu classes are ongoing via online delivery for all our students and we have seen a very good enrolment of new students also. Our students also been actively participating in various online cultural and religious activities locally and internationally. My utmost gratitude and thank you to all the great and able team of TAM CWC and Branch chairman’s for working hard and tirelessly at all times in support of all the activities by TAM.

Dear members, there is no big enough word to thank everyone for your continues support and contribution towards our ICARE FOR UPLIFTMENT PROJECT. Your RM1 per day @ RM365 per year contribution is helping us to fulfil many student and families materialising their dream in attaining higher education. We hope and seek your kindness for more people to come forward and support our ICARE FOR UPLIFTMENT PROJECT and achieve our target of accumulating RM50 million fund within the next 10 years. Through this scheme with minimal effort, we can support all our aspiring students to accomplish their dreams. We will also have sufficient funds to conduct language and cultural activities.

Last but not least, I would like to thank the Vengkateswara Temple management for conducting daily activities and weekly ‘Annadhanam’ scheme at the temple. We are also aware of the steady increase in pilgrims and devotees to the temple from other parts of the country.

Finally, I would like to thank all TAM branches for their services, dedication and loyalty to TAM. You have been very persistent in conducting Telugu classes weekly. You are truly a success story of TAM. I am also happy with the Youth and Women (Mahila) wings contribution towards the branch and national levels.

Jai Telugu Thalli !

Dr Vengkata Prathap
President, Telugu Association of Malaysia
