TAM’s 68th Anniversary Celebration & Official Book Release of ‘Malaysian Telugus’
In conjunction of the 68th Anniversary of Telugu Association of Malaysia on 17th February 2024, a grand celebration was organised at the Help University Subang 2 Campus, Subang Bestari, Shah Alam, Selangor. During the celebration, the official book release of “Malaysian Telugus – Untold Stories of Andhra Pioneers” was held. The book has been authored by Dr. Malini Ramanan, a senior philosophy lecturer following her research work from 2002-2006 which was dedicated to uncovering the stories of the Telugu Community pioneers who have migrated from Andhra Pradesh to Malaysia over 200 years ago during the 19th century. The challenges, successes and contributions of the Telugu community in Malaysia has been documented in the book which was launched by YB Senator Saraswathi Kandasamy, Deputy Minister of National Unity as the chief guest of honor. Among the other invited guests who have attended the event were H.E. Shri B.N. Reddy (High Commissioner of India to Malaysia), H.E. Shri Jagdishwar Goburdhun (High Commissioner of Mauritius to Malaysia), Emeritus Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Rahman Embong, Professor Datuk Dr. Paul Chan (Chancellor of HELP University), Dr Goh Chee Leong (CEO of HELP University), Datuk Dr Acahiah Kumar Rao (TAM Advisor) and Mr. Terence Naidu (Former Member of the Perak State Legislative Assembly). Besides the book launching, the anniversary celebration was also filled with TAM Past Leaders Awards Ceremony, Malaysian Telugu Heritage Photo Exhibition, Malaysian Telugu Food Expo & Telugu Cultural Performances.
