Ugadi Celebration – Bagan Datuk, Perak

On Thursday, 19 March 2026, the auspicious occasion of Sri Parabhava Naama Ugadi, the Telugu New Year, was celebrated with great devotion and grandeur at the 17th Mile Sungai Sumun Sri Venkateswara Devasthanam. The event witnessed the participation of nearly 220 devotees, who gathered to welcome the New Year with faith, joy, and spiritual reflection.

Ugadi, a festival symbolizing new beginnings, unity, and cultural pride, brings families and communities together. Dressed in traditional attire, devotees added vibrance and devotion to the festive atmosphere as they sought the blessings of Lord Sri Venkateswara.

The day began early with sacred rituals, including Abhishekam, Alankaram, Pooja, and Archana, conducted from 4:01 AM to 10:00 AM. Following the morning prayers, breakfast was lovingly served to all attendees.

The evening celebrations commenced with Pradosha Kaala Pooja, Bhajans, and Archana from 7:01 PM to 8:30 PM, led by Devastanam Archaka Sri Ramachandra Garu and his dedicated team. The devotional spirit continued with soulful Bhajans led by Mr. Ramunaidu and Mr. Jegathees Rao, captivating the devotees and enhancing the festive ambiance.

A highlight of the evening was the vibrant Dhattu Bhajana performed by Mahilas, youths, and Telugu class students, whose energetic and devotional songs deeply engaged the audience.

Representing the Telugu Association of Malaysia, TAM Council Member Mr. Jegathees Rao and his wife graced the occasion with their presence and participated in the Ugadi prayers. The Devasthanam Chairman, Sri Ananda Rao, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all devotees and extended warm Ugadi wishes to everyone.

The Ugadi celebrations, including the expenses and Annadanam, were generously sponsored by the Telugu Association of Malaysia. The event concluded with the serving of Annadanam to all devotees, fostering a sense of community and shared blessings.
