Ugadi Festival Celebration Report – Telugu Association of Malaysia (Rawang Branch)
In conjunction with the auspicious Ugadi festival, the Telugu Association of Malaysia (TAM), Rawang Branch, successfully organized a series of meaningful celebrations.
The festivities commenced with a traditional gathering held at the residence of Sri Athinarayanarao garu, a respected past leader of TAM Rawang. The event was warmly hosted by his family and relatives, where guests were treated to a variety of delicious traditional dishes. This memorable celebration received media recognition and was featured on Bernama and RTM news channels.
The association extends its heartfelt appreciation to distinguished attendees, including TAM Advisor Datuk Dr. Achiah Kumar Rao, Deputy President Sri Sathiah Sudakaran garu, National Youth Vice Leader Sri Ravin Naidu garu, Past Deputy President GT Letchumanan garu, National Youth Past Leader Sri Vengkat garu, and Sathya Sai Centre Treasurer Smt. Chandrakala garu, for gracing the occasion with their presence.
The celebrations continued in the evening with a grand gathering attended by approximately 450 participants. The program featured a series of spiritual and cultural activities, including prayers, Melam performances, and Bhajans. Various competitions and performances were also organized, such as the Ugadi Pachadi-making competition (Youth Category) and the Pammitalu colouring contest for children.
Adding vibrancy to the event, Telugu class students showcased their talents through classical dance, Dhatubhajan, and folk dance performances. Notably, the students prepared for these performances within a short span of just three Sundays, demonstrating commendable dedication and effort.
Guests were served evening refreshments including tea, coffee, and traditional Telugu delicacies, followed by dinner.
The event was organized under the leadership of the Organizing Chairperson, Smt. Paruvathy garu, Mahila Leader of TAM Rawang. The function was officiated by the representative of YB Chua, Mr. Dinish, along with esteemed dignitaries including TAM National Advisor Datuk Dr. Achiah Kumar Rao, National Vice President Smt. Veera Letchumy garu, Assistant Secretary Sri Apparaw garu, TAM Nat. Youth Vice Leader Sri Ravin Naidu, Sri Banuhassan and the Chairman of Vinayagar Temple Dato Seri Balakrishnan.
The successful event was also featured in The Sun newspaper, further highlighting the association’s efforts in promoting cultural unity and heritage
